I recently saw Christian Marclay's 1995 video work titled "Telephones," at SITE Santa Fe in New Mexico. It "utilizes an archive of film clips from Hollywood film history, recreating the scenario of the human encounter with the telephone in all its manifestations."
I also recently saw Marclay's work on the following iPhone commercial, in which Apple uses Marclay's idea without his permission.
Marclay says "This culture’s so much about suing each other that if we want to have anything that’s more of an open exchange of ideas, one has to stop this mentality. I’m just honored that they thought my work was interesting enough that they felt they could just rip it off.”
